Lyla Self’s two-out single brought home Maddie Flint with the winning run Monday as Wilmington defeated Washington 7-6 in South Central Ohio League softball action at WHS.

The Lady Hurricane trailed 6-4 going to the seventh. Jaylyn Hensley led off with a double and scored on a single by Hannah Chase. Flint then plated Chase with a double.

Courtney Smart was the winning pitcher for WHS.

“(I was) proud of the girls for overcoming adversity and a few errors,” WHS coach Glen Blessing said. “All the girls toughed it out to the very end.”

The two teams completed a game from earlier in the year that was suspended because of inclement weather at Washington Senior. The Lady Blue Lions won that game 7-6.
