LEES CREEK — For the third straight season, the Clinton-Massie softball teams reigns supreme in the South Central Ohio League.

The Lady Falcons dispatched East Clinton 10-0 Friday, improving to 12-0 in league play and securing the outright championship. Coach Andy Lauer said Miami Trace is next in line with three league losses and Massie has just two SCOL games remaining.

“I’m glad we got this win tonight for our seniors,” said Lauer. “This is special for them to have accomplished three league championships. We still have two league games remaining and that’s where we will continue our focus.”

The Lady Falcons are 18-0 overall.

Taylor Florea, a freshman, pitched a one-hitter while striking out seven. She did not walk a batter. The only hit was a lead-off single to start the second inning by Tori Bailey.

“We started off a little slow,” Lauer said. “This team is fun to be around. Even on days when we might be struggling a little, these girls always find a way to start hitting when we need it. The girls find a way to pick each other up and get things going.”

Lauer noted the play of Hailey Clayborn (2-5 with an RBI) and Claire Carruthers (1-3 with an RBI) as two of the key elements in the shutout win.

“Several girls stepped up and had good hitting games,” the CM coach said. “Hailey and Claire had been struggling a little bit but hit the ball well tonight.”

Emilie Fisher had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI from her leadoff spot. Florea and Taylor Flanigan both had two hits and drove in a run.
