Lady Falcons’ bid for perfection alive with seventh inning rally

NEW RICHMOND — A pair of freshmen combined for seven hits Friday as Clinton-Massie defeated New Richmond 7-4 in a non-league softball game at NRHS.

The Lady Falcons are 21-0 on the season and will bid for a perfect season Saturday at home against Wilmington.

New Richmond falls to 15-8.

Hailey Clayborn had four hits and Taylor Florea had three hits as CMHS rallied with three runs in the seventh inning to win the game.

Jessica Asher led off the seventh with a double, then the Lady Falcons “executed some nice bunts and pushed across three runs,” coach Anthony Lauer said, to take the lead.

From there, Florea shut the door on the Lady Lions in the seventh for the win.

“We needed a game like this,” said Lauer. “We needed to be pushed to see how we would respond. I’m very proud how we were able to hit the ball like we did in that last inning.”
