DAYTON — The Wilmington High School boys and girls track and field teams competed Wednesday at the Div. I Dayton District Track and Field Championships at Welcome Stadium.
None of the Hurricane competitors qualified for next week’s Div. I Dayton Regional Track and Field Championships.
On the girls side, Megan Borton finished sixth in the preliminary heats and qualified for Friday’s final heat in the 100-meter dash. She clocked a 13.1.
For the boys, Nic Hayward was seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.98 seconds and advanced to the championship run on Friday.
Also, the 4×200-meter relay team of Hayward, Dorian Taylor, Parker Gunkel and Ryland Bowman finished seventh in the prelims in 1:37.99 and qualified for the finals.
The Div. I district will continue Friday with field events set to start at 5 p.m. and the finals in the running events set to go at 6:30 p.m.
The rest of the county will continue district competition Thursday and Saturday.
The Blanchester and Clinton-Massie boys will run at New Richmond, 4 p.m. Thursday and again at 1 p.m. on Saturday in a Div. II district meet.
The Blanchester, Clinton-Massie and East Clinton girls will compete in a Div. II district at Welcome Stadium 4 p.m. Thursday in field events and 5 p.m. in running events. Competition will continue Saturday with field events at 1 p.m. and running events at 2:30 p.m.
The East Clinton boys will run in the Div. III district Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. with field events and 11:30 a.m. with running events.
