The Wilmington High School girls tennis team opened its season Friday with a 4-1 win over Talawanda in a non-league match on the WHS courts.
On a steamy, blustery day, the Lady Hurricane swept the doubles matches and won two of three on the singles courts.
Sophie Reed posted a 6-0, 6-4 win in her first varsity singles match while Brooklyn Nielsen outlasted her rival 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.
Freshman Allie Kees paired with senior Kate Schroeder for a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles while a pair of seniors — Kalista Adkins and Emily Davis — breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 win at second doubles.
