The short-handed Southern State Community College men’s soccer team dropped a 12-1 decision Friday to Boyce College out of Louisville.

The Patriots trailed 9-0 at halftime but coach Timothy Swart was pleased with the second half when Southern State moved personnel and changed its style of play.

Riley Payne, a Wilmington High School graduate, had the lone SSCC goal when he split four defenders and hit a shot in the lower right corner, Swart said.

A scheduled match Saturday at Front Royal, Va., against Christendom College was postponed because of field conditions and rescheduled for Oct. 29.

Southern State will play at UC-Clermont Oct. 11.
