MOUNT ORAB — The Wilmington High School girls soccer team was defeated by Western Brown 2-1 Tuesday in a Div. II sectional tournament match at WBHS.

Wilmington ends its season with a 7-6-4 record.

Western Brown will advance to the second round against Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference American Division rival New Richmond 7 p.m. Saturday.

The match was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Wilmington will join the SBAAC beginning next fall and be in the same division as both Western Brown and New Richmond.

Savannah Morgan scored an unassisted goal in the 13th minute of the match to put the Lady Hurricane on top 1-0.

“Savannah’s goal was pretty,” WHS coach Kerry Lewis said. “She hit it clean and hard. The ball went over the out-reached arms into the back post.”

The Lady Broncos tied the match at 1-1 in the 23rd minute then posted the game-winner midway through the second half.

“Western Brown is a quality team,” Lewis said.
