Wilmington JV girls basketball opens with 37-29 win

MT. ORAB – The Wilmington High School reserve girls basketball team defeated Western Brown 37-29 Tuesday in the season opener for WHS at the Western Brown gym.

Sami McCord hit seven of eight free throws in the final minutes of the game to keep Wilmington out in front by a comfortable margin.

McCord finished with a game-high 15 points, hitting 8 of 10 free throws in the final quarter.

Jenna Victor and Karlie Morgan had eight points each for the Lady Hurricane.Jasmine Jamiel tossed in four while Tiara Harris had two.

Sydni Barnes led Western Brown with 10 points. Allie Buttree added nine and Emma Samms scored eight.
