Jefferson, Campbell net 23 each in WC win over Earlham 81-69

RICHMOND, Ind. – Brittaney Jefferson and Mackenzie Campbell formed a potent 1-2 punch as the Wilmington College women’s basketball team defeated Earlham 81-69 Tuesday night in a non-conference match in the Hoosier state.

Jefferson hit 9 of 16 from the floor and finished with 23 points while Campbell connected on 9 of 15 and also finished with 23. Campbell had eight rebounds and two assists while Jefferson had five steals.

The win puts WC at 3-2 while EC falls to 0-4.

The difference in the game was the third period, when Wilmington outscored Earlham 20-9 after the two teams played to a 40-40 first half tie. WC closed the third with a 10-0 run to grab 62-49 advantage.

Earlham pulled to within 62-56 in the fourth, but again Wilmington hit its stride with a 10-2 run that sealed the victory.

Mary Moyer had four points but grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and handed out three assists. Savannah Hooper had nine points and two assists.
