Wilmington’s Mya Jackson is scheduled to participate in the 2nd annual Jim Dabbelt Miami Valley Underclass All-Star Game Thursday at Urbana High School.

Forty of the top girls’ basketball players in the region, ranging from freshman through juniors, will be participating in the event, according to a press release from The Dabbelt Report.

Two games will be played that evening, with the Div. I-II game set to begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Div. III-IV game which tips off at 7:30 p.m.

Dabbelt, a Tipp City resident who is finishing his 32nd year in girls’ basketball, authors The Dabbelt Report which promotes the sport throughout Ohio. The all-star teams are selected from Dabbelt’s all-area teams which are published at the end of the regular season.

Also that evening, the seniors around the Miami Valley who were named to the all-area teams will be recognized in between games.

Throughout the evening, a Fill the Boot raffle also will take place, to help with expenses endured for the family of West Liberty Salem student Logan Cole, who was injured in a school shooting in January. Two Tiger Strong shirts, one signed by the West Liberty Salem girls’ basketball team, and another by the 40 girls participating in the game, will be raffled off to a pair of winners.

Also in attendance will be former Major League Baseball pitcher Joe Crawford, who just retired after 13 years as a coach with the Milwaukee Brewers. Crawford will be coaching one of the all-star teams and will be donating his Brewers game jersey that will also be available to win in the auction.

Admission is $5 at the door.
