ADAMS TOWNSHIP — The Clinton-Massie boys track and field team defeated a pair of South Central Ohio League rivals Tuesday at Chick Brown Track in the season-opening meet.

Clinton-Massie posted 71.6 points while Wilmington was runnerup with 52.3. Miami Trace was third with 48 points.

The Falcons won six events and the Hurricane finished first in four events.

WHS first-year varsity boys track and field coach Ashley Howard was pleased with her squad in the opener.

“The team did a great job overall for it being the first meet of the season and, as a coach, I am very pleased with how well they competed,” Howard said. “We have not had the best weather to practice all the events and with a couple of guys out with injuries during training, I have had to piece together relay teams and find others to fill spots. Some of our newcomers have shown that they are ready to run and compete and I am ready to see what they have to give.

“With it being spring break, we are off the next three days and will return Monday for practice and get ready for our next meet at Little Miami and the Franklin Relays. I hope to continue to see improvement from my guys each practice and meet so we can continue to rebuild the program.”
