LEES CREEK — Olivia Veidt pitched a one-hitter as Wilmington defeated East Clinton 7-0 Friday in a South Central Ohio League softball game.

East Clinton had defeated Wilmington earlier in the season.

The Lady Hurricane, fresh off a win over Div. IV No. 7 Williamsburg on Thursday, is now 12-8 overall and 9-4 in the SCOL.

“It was really nice for the girls to get this win,” WHS coach Glen Blessing said. “I’m proud of them for coming out ready to play. I was somewhat concerned there could have been a letdown after yesterday’s high intensity, emotional game.”

Mckenzie Campbell had the only East Clinton hit, a sixth inning single.

Veidt, who hurled eight shutout innings against Williamsburg, did not walk a batter and struck out eight.

Hunter Toller had three hits, including a homer, and drove in two. Courtney Smart had three hits. Kacy Younker had two hits and drove in two runs.

Since losing to Clinton-Massie, Wilmington has won four straight games. Smart is 10-for-16 at the plate. The Lady Hurricane pitching line in the four games — 25 innings, 6 hits allowed, two unearned runs allowed, 24 strikeouts and zero bases on balls.
