Wilmington was unable to generate much offense Monday in a 4-1 loss to No. 9 Lynchburg-Clay in non-league girls soccer action at Alumni Field.

The Lady Mustangs are 9-2-1 on the year and one of the best Div. III teams in Ohio.

“They look poised to make a deep run in the tournament,” said WHS coach Kerry Lewis. “They are a very good team. They have command of the ball, depth, size and speed. They’re very good and we wish them best of luck.”

Wilmington falls to 8-4-1 and will travel to Chillicothe Thursday for a key South Central Ohio League match.

Savannah Morgan scored the only goal for the Lady Hurricane, unassisted in the 87th minute.
