FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Fans of the North Dakota State University football team didn’t waste any time getting their new national championship gear.

The Bison on Saturday beat Jacksonville State 37-10 in Frisco, Texas, for an unprecedented fifth straight NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title. A day later, fans were flocking to the Scheels store in Fargo to get the latest championship merchandise.

“We want stuff that has the ring on it and says five-peat, that’s what I like,” Trisha Erickson told WDAY-TV (http://bit.ly/1SJC6Vt ).

One of the more popular items this year is the “One for the Thumb” design, with the five championship rings. Another design shows the five championship trophies.

“You get to show your pride and show the five-peat. It’s awesome,” Jeremy Holter said.

Adding to the fans’ enjoyment this year is that not everyone thought NDSU could beat the top-seeded Gamecocks.

“Everyone kind of doubted us and it really shows how strong NDSU is and how we all believe,” Tori Rude told WDAY after the game.

Bison fans also are enthusiastic about the future, and the possibility of a sixth straight national title.

“Next year, we’re going to repeat the three-peat,” Eric Meyers said.
