WC men 8th, women 9th at OAC indoor meet

MARIETTA – The Wilmington College track and field teams competed Saturday in the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor championships held at Marietta College.

The men’s team placed eighth with 32 points, while the women’s team was ninth with eight points.

Senior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs) was the only Wilmington College athlete to earn All-OAC Saturday, finishing as the runner up in the high jump (1.98 meters). He added a seventh place finish in the triple jump (12.89).

Sophomore Pierce Burnam (New Richmond) scored in three individual events and a relay. He was fourth in the 55 hurdles (8.05 seconds), sixth in the triple jump (12.90 meters) and eighth in the 500 (1:09.56).

Truss and Burnam teamed with sophomore Eric Flynn (Cleveland Central Catholic) and freshman Elliot Phillimore (Old Fort) to place seventh in the 4×400 relay (3:39.37).

Sophomore Hunter Stith (Batavia), sophomore Griffin Stith (Batavia), senior Dominic King (Bettsville) and Flynn placed sixth in the distance medley relay (11:04.26).

Junior Zak Kruer (Miamisburg) was fourth in the pole vault (4.51 meters) and freshman Gino Hinton (Maple Heights) rounded out the Wilmington scorers with a sixth place finish in the 55 (6.63).

Senior Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg) tallied most of Wilmington’s points, placing sixth in the shot put (12.09 meters) and seventh in the weight throw (13.93).

Junior Angela Dorsett (West Mifflin, Pittsburgh, Pa.), sophomore Brooklyn Payne (Chicago Agricultural School), sophomore Ashley Lovett (Washington Senior) and freshman Shanaya Jones (Mother of Mercy) teamed to place sixth in the 4×200 relay (1:51.43).

Wilmington has concluded the indoor season and will kick off the outdoor season at the Muskingum Invitational March 25.
