Affini, Lehigh face No. 1 Army 5 p.m. today in Patriot League semis

Wilmington High School graduate Amina Affini and her Lehigh teammates will face top-seeded Army West Point 5 p.m. today in the semifinal round of the Patriot League women’s basketball tournament.

Affini, a 2012 WHS grad, is a senior at Lehigh University, located in Bethlehem, Pa.

The No. 4 seeded Mountain Hawks with a win over Army would advance to the Patriot League championship game, set for 6 p.m. Saturday at West Point, N.Y.

The semifinal game will air on the Patriot League Network (www.patriotleague.org) with the championship game to be televised by the CBS Sports Network.

The other semifinal game pits No. 2 seed Bucknell against No. 3 seed Loyola of Maryland.

Affini is averaging 6 points and 3 rebounds for the 18-12 Mountain Hawks. She has started all 30 games and is shooting 37 percent from beyond the three-point line and 84 percent at the free throw line. She has 39 assists and 42 steals this season.
