OAC track, field championships begin Friday at Wilmington College

The 10-school Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Wilmington College’s Beckett Track Friday and Saturday.

The meet will begin at noon Friday with men’s and women’s field events — women’s pole vault, men’s discus, men’s long jump, women’s javelin. At 2:10 p.m. Friday, men’s javelin, women’s discus and women’s long jump will begin competition. The final field event of the day is the men’s pole vault scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Running event preliminary heats will begin at 4:10 p.m. Friday.

The longer running events — 3,000-meter steeplechase, 4×800-meter relay and 10,000-meter run — will be contested as finals Friday.

The meets will continue Saturday with field events set to start at 10 a.m. and the running finals in all events set to begin at 2:35 p.m.

Admission to the meets will be $7 for adults each day or $10 for a two-day pass. Senior admission is $5. Non-OAC student admission is $2.

Wilmington College’s Sarah Pierce competing in the steeplechase event at the Night Moves Invitational proved to be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Pierce and her Quaker track and field teammates will be competing in the 2016 OAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Beckett Track.
