LEADING OFF: Rockies check Gray, Braves add a bell buster

A look at what’s happening all around spring training in Florida and Arizona today:

___

CHECK HIM

The Rockies will see how top pitching prospect Jon Gray is feeling, a day after abdominal tightness forced him to exit in the first inning of a game against Milwaukee. Gray, the third overall pick in the 2013 draft, was set to begin the season in the Colorado rotation.

SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT

The Braves are warming up for their final season at Turner Field by adding some new menu items. Even if the team doesn’t draw full houses, it’s sure to get full stomachs — try the “Burgerizza,” described as a grilled 20-ounce beef patty, covered with five slices of cheddar cheese, topped with crispy bacon, and served between two 8-inch pepperoni pizzas. It sells for $26.

PLATOON PLAN

The Dodgers found out that Andre Ethier’s injury is a significant one — he’s out 10 to 14 weeks with a broken right leg after fouling a ball off himself. With him out, Los Angeles could be looking at a platoon in left field of Carl Crawford and Scott Van Slyke.

NICE START

Houston rookie Michael Feliz is scheduled to make his fifth start this spring, facing the Phillies. The 22-year-old righty has an 0.90 ERA so far, striking out eight in 10 innings. He made his big league debut last year, with a 7.88 ERA in five relief appearances.

STILL AILING

The Tigers will check on pitcher Daniel Norris, who was pulled after getting just one out vs. Toronto. He exited with tightness in his lower back and was scratched from his previous start because of a stiff back. He is competing for the final spot in Detroit’s rotation.

WELCOME BACK

Home from their 4-1 win over the Cuban national team in Havana, the Rays resume the Grapefruit League schedule by playing Minnesota. Erasmo Ramirez is lined up to start for Tampa Bay.
