Clinton-Massie
The Clinton-Massie cross country teams have just three returning runners from the 2019 season.
Emma Muterspaw, a first-team All-SBAAC runner, is the top returnee for Dean Richardson, who is in his 24th season as coach.
Jacob Ryan is a top newcomer after a sterling middle school career.
The Falcons lose 2019 graduates Lilly Lentine, Seth Goodall and Alex Shelton.
“We have a good group of young runners,” Richardson said. “We need to continue to work our way into shape. Also, we hope to recruit more runners once school starts.”
The boys roster includes Bryce Hensley, Travis Smith and Ryan. Muterspaw is the lone runner on the varsity girls roster.
Richardson said there are five middle school boys and seven middle school girls training with the team.
Wilmington
Wilmington runners swept top honors in 2019 at the SBAAC Cross Country Championship meet.
And top individuals on each side return for Karen Heslop, who takes over the program from Hall of Fame coach Eileen Grosse and Brad Heys.
Sophie Huffman was runnerup in the girls race while Sylena Baltazar was seventh overall.
Garrett Stoffer is back for the boys. He was third in the league race.
The boys do lose SBAAC American Division runner of the year Tyler Parks, who graduated this spring.
Blanchester
Tiffany Wyss is the head coach of the Blanchester High School cross country teams.
Brett Bandow (first team All-SBAAC) and Nick Musselman (second team) were sophomores last year who ran well for BHS on the boys side.
Alexis Davis was the top runner for the BHS girls in last year’s meet but she graduated in the spring.
East Clinton
Aidan Henson won the SBAAC Cross Country Championship race last season but graduated in the spring.
Coach Bill Hrabak is the head coach.
Carah Antek, a junior now, was second team All-SBAAC last season. Zach Vest also was second team and is a junior for the boys.
