WILMINGTON — Judge Chad L. Carey has appointed Tarah Mongold as the new director of the CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) program in Clinton County. Mongold replaces the recently retired Kim Vandervort, who developed the county’s program in 2016.
Mongold comes to Clinton County CASA with an extensive background in volunteer services. After being named Volunteer of the Year at The Greene County Family Visitation Center in 2018, she came to serve as a CASA volunteer for Clinton County.
Mongold graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2017, and her Master’s Degree in Social Work this year, from Wright State University.
The Clinton County CASA Program director trains and prepares the CASA volunteers to advocate for the child. The CASA volunteer, as soon as they are assigned to a child, will learn as much as they can about the child and their environment in order to know what is in that child’s best interest.
It is a CASA volunteer’s goal to help the child emerge from the trauma or abuse and neglect, and be placed in a safe environment where they can thrive.
