Wilmington seeks Park Board members

Mayor John Stanforth will be making appointments to the City of Wilmington’s Parks and Recreation Board. Any registered voter in the City of Wilmington, interested in getting more involved in local government and serving the city, should apply.

The City Parks and Recreation Department operates seven parks throughout Wilmington, each with its own unique character. Galvin Park, South East Park, and Point Park are all neighborhood parks. In contrast, our two main parks, J.W. Denver Williams Park, and David R. Williams Park, are home to countless activities and programs hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department. Lastly, Lytle Creek Nature Preserve offers hiking and other nature-related activities.

The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Board is to control and manage the city parks. The Mayor of Wilmington appoints three city residents who are registered voters, as members of the Parks and Recreation Board.

Ohio Revised Code defines that the Park Board members shall serve without compensation, hold meetings at least once per month, and adopt necessary rules to regulate park operations. The Park Board may employ superintendents, landscape gardeners, and other employees as needed for the parks’ operations. The board may remove any employee of the Parks and Recreation Department at any time.

Resumes may be submitted to [email protected] or dropped off in-person at the City of Wilmington Human Resources office located on the second floor of 69 N. South St., Wilmington, OH 45177. Applications are available upon request and may be submitted in place of a resume.
