WILMINGTON — Current Wilmington at-large city councilmember Bill Liermann announced Friday that he will run for election as 3rd Ward councilmember, currently held by Kristi Fickert, who is not seeking re-election.

Liermann previously served the 3rd Ward in the early 1990s.

“If successful, I will then retire and conclude my service in public office, in 2023,” Liermann said. “With God’s help, and the Third Ward voters, that is my plan. We have many issues still pending. Unfinished business is my concern for the taxpayers.”
