ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Digging out of a 4-0 hole, the Clinton-Massie baseball team defeated Clermont Northeastern 8-5 Thursday in non-league baseball at Paul Schwamberger Field.
Three of the Rockets runs in the first off Kaiden Smith were unearned. Smith settled in over the next two innings and held the Rockets at bay.
The Falcons began their comeback in the second with a single run. It was 5-2 going to the bottom of the fifth. Gabe McDowell had a bases-clearing double to tie the game.
“We had knocked on the door two or three times during the game and finally got the that timely hit to get even,” CM manager Brian Camp said.
Massie then took the lead with three two-out runs in the sixth, Camp said.
Tyler Keck pitched the final 4.1 innings for his first pitching win of the season.
