Andy Steed won the National Links Junior Open golf tournament Thursday at the National Golf Links in South Charleston.

Steed’s Clinton-Massie teammate Owen Goodwin was the tournament runnerup with an even-par 72.

Steed shot a 4-under par 68 on the 6,258-yard layout. Steed was 3-under par on the front nine and posted another birdie on the back side. He hit all 18 greens in regulation, a personal best total.

The Clinton-Massie junior’s next tournament is the Miami Valley Junior Championship, a two-day split event July 10 and 11 at Heatherwood Golf Club and Beavercreek Golf Club.

On June 26-27, Steed competed in the SOPGA Junior Championships at Darby Creek Golf Club in Marysville. He shot 2-over park 146 and finished fourth in the qualifying event.

Cameron Phillips shot back-to-back rounds of 3-under par 69 to win the tournament with a 6-under 138. Jack Marsh was runnerup at 1-under par. Only the top two players qualified for the Junior PGA national championship tournament in Hot Springs, Ark. Steed is the second of five total alternates.

Goodwin was 37th in the tournament and Logan Miller was 54th. Miller also is a Clinton-Massie student.
