In this his 12th season leading the Clinton-Massie wrestling program, Spencer Running remains excited about the prospects on Lebanon Road.

There are 12 returning letterwinners with eight starters returning. Leading the way is state qualifier Cody Lisle.

The Falcons were runnersup to Wilmington in the American Division and third overall in the SBAAC tournament last year.

Running will be assisted by Josh Musser at the high school and Russ Frommling, Mark Paytes and Brodie Green at the junior high. Cindy Running and Janelle Running are the girls wrestling coaches.

Also returning for the Falcons are Gatlin Newkirk, Evan Jet and Dakin Johnson, all district qualifiers.

Cole Moorman and Brodie Green graduated in the spring.

Running said the Falcons are “young with a lot of potential” and need to gain confidence to compete in the tough tournament schedule and SBAAC.

The CM coach believes his team can contend if “we have some leaders step up and help our younger wrestlers get used to the high school wrestling pace early.”

Running said the goals for the team are league and sectional titles while several wrestlers will have state placement as a goal in 2023-24.
