WASHINGTON CH Wilmington used its offense to build a first half lead then its defense to close out a 56-44 win over Washington Wednesday night.

Miya Nance had a career-high 26 points for the Hurricane. She had 15 of Wilmington 22 points in the second half.

Elle Martin scored all 11 of her points in the first half as Wilmington built a 34-22 lead.

“Great team win,” coach Zach Williams said. “All the girls contributed very solid minutes on the floor and are showing continued growth.”

In the second half, Nance continued to be a problem for the Blue Lions defense and the Hurricane defense never let Washington get back in it.

Martin was solid defensively and Auna Hudson “stepped up with some big time minutes off the bench.”

Hudson had five points in the second half and finished with nine for the game.
