WILMINGTON — The community is invited this week to remember and celebrate the life of Jason Flint — the 17-year-old Blanchester resident who died as the result of a May 26 single-vehicle accident on Settlemyre Road south of Wilmington Road in Warren County.

A visitation for Jason will be held Friday, June 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Clinton County Fairgrounds Expo Center. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Xenia. There will also be a memorial bike ride escorting the carriage to Sugar Grove Cemetery for graveside services.

All bikes are welcome and encouraged to join the ride. Please contact Mike at 513-725-6825 for more information.

The public is invited to join Jason’s family and friends at the Clinton County Fairgrounds Expo after the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Jason Memorial Fund can be made payable to Jennifer Moffit (with Jason’s name in the memo) and sent to Wright-Patt Credit Union, 161 Carrie Drive, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. The memorial fund will be used to benefit the athletic program at Clinton-Massie High School.

Jason was going to be a senior at Clinton-Massie High School where he was a member of the varsity basketball team and the track team. He had also played soccer and baseball and enjoyed watching all sports.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Lebanon Post’s preliminary investigation revealed that just before 10 p.m. May 26, Brittney Shockley, 19, of Clarksville, was driving a 2008 Mazda MX-5 northwest on Settlemyre Road. While going around a curve, the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, traveled across the roadway and went off the right side, according to OSHP.

The vehicle overturned, ejecting the passengers — Flint and another 15-year-old juvenile.

Flint was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to OSHP. Shockley was transported to Bethesda North Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other juvenile was transported to the University of Cincinnati Children’s with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
