WILMINGTON — The excitement of Rock the Block in downtown Wilmington is set to peak tonight as the festival concludes with a series of highly-anticipated performances and special events.

Following a successful Thursday and Friday night featuring Lynch Mob at the Murphy Theatre and other concerts, attendees can look forward to an action-packed Saturday.

According to organizers, Thursday night’s pre-party was also a success. Hosted by Wilmington Escape and presented by the Farm to Bottle Foundation, the event featured a special appearance by “Shaggy,” host of “Big Hair Wednesday” on 102.7 WEBN Cincinnati’s rock station, with South of 69 performing on the Escape’s stage.

Friday night saw a variety of free performances, with Best of Times playing on the ELKS stage and Sunset BLVD entertaining the crowd on the Eagles stage, creating a vibrant kickoff for the weekend.

Tonight’s festivities begin at 7 p.m. with Hinder taking the stage for a ticketed show inside the Murphy Theatre. The multi-platinum rock band, known for hits like “Lips of an Angel,” promises an unforgettable performance.

At 8 p.m., Escape, a renowned Journey tribute band, will entertain the crowd from the Elks stage.

The music continues at 10 p.m. with Nelson rocking the Eagles stage. Known for their melodic rock tunes and powerful harmonies, Nelson promises a memorable performance to cap off the night.

For those who want to keep the party going, the after-party at 11 p.m. at The Escape on Sugartree Street will feature AR 6, performing an energetic mix of 80s and 90s rock hits.

There is a special offer for teachers attending the event. By bringing a school ID, teachers will receive a free swag bag full of goodies, courtesy of Peoples Bank – Wilmington South Street, and the Murphy Theatre. Additionally, attendees who donate school supplies this weekend will receive a “Teachers Rock” t-shirt. Thanks to the generosity of the community, five large totes of school supplies have been collected and will be distributed within the county.

Organizers of Rock the Block made a trip to Lake Erie Distillery on Wednesday to gather goods for this weekend. The Farm to Bottle Festival crew will be serving drinks made from Ohio farmers and distillers throughout the weekend.

As Rock the Block wraps up its festivities for the year, the organizers extend their gratitude to their sponsors and everyone who donated, making this event a significant success. And the community is reminded to not miss out on tonight’s final celebrations.
