Road safety improvement projects to begin this year

The Clinton County Engineer’s Office, in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation, has announced two major safety improvement projects for Antioch Road and Farmers Road, aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing accidents.

The first project focuses on reconstructing a portion of Antioch Road. The work will commence south of the Hodson Road intersection and extend approximately 2,800 feet north, just past the Dailey Road intersection.

Scheduled to begin this year, the project will involve removing hills to change the vertical alignment of the road, widening berms, and flattening ditches. These improvements aim to provide better sight distance and reduce the number and severity of roadway departure crashes.

According to Clinton County Engineer Jeffrey Linkous, bidding for this project will take place next week, with an expected completion date of June 2025.

The second project will reconstruct approximately 3,800 feet of Farmers Road in Union Township. This project will realign the curve of the roadway about 50 feet west of the existing intersection with Jenkins Road. It also includes widening the pavement and shoulders, removing fixed objects to improve visibility, adding pavement striping, raised pavement markings, and other safety signage improvements.

Construction is estimated to begin in October 2024 and is anticipated to be completed by June 2025. It will be bid in early 2025, according to Linkous.

Residents and commuters can expect enhanced travel conditions and increased safety upon the completion of these projects.
