WILMINGTON — Sugartree Ministries and the Clinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities are hosting a free picnic at the start of September for “staff, individuals, and families.” The picnic will take place on Sept. 10, from 1-3 p.m., at 1300 Fife Ave. at the Denver Williams Park Shelter D.
The picnic is for staff and their families, as well as those who receive services from the Clinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities, including Early Intervention Clinton County.
Rain or shine, the picnic will go on, with an alternate location at 180 E. Main St. at the Sugartree Ministries Distribution Center, should there be inclement weather. Those wishing to attend should RSVP by Sept. 2 to Kelly or Mickey at 937-382-7519.
The Clinton County Board of DD is partnering with Sugartree Ministries to put on the event. Sugartree Ministries is a Christian-based outreach ministry whose mission is to foster, “a ministry (to) reach out to the broken and the hurting in our community and help them find hope, freedom and peace.”
Sugartree Ministries regularly provides services to the community, including paying for daily hot meals, pick-up groceries, healthcare/treatment transportation, as well as providing home necessities and clothes to people in need within the community.
Sugartree Ministries serves seven hot meals a week, provided by local community organizations and churches. They also provide pick-up groceries for the community, supplied by donations.

The event will bring together staff of the Clinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities and their families, as well as individuals who receive services from the Clinton County Board, including Early Intervention Clinton County, bringing together a vast number of community members from across the county.
Two of the state of Ohio’s Department of Developmental Disabilities core values, “Partnership” and “Intervention” state that they, “Work together to build connections that are essential for innovative support options and representative of the needs and wants of people with developmental disabilities,” and that they “create environments, programs, and processes that value those we support and encourages participation.”
The event held at Denver Williams Park Shelter D on 1300 Fife Ave., at 1-3 p.m. will be a chance for staff, their families, and the greater Clinton County community of individuals with developmental disabilities to come together and create essential connections and create environments that encourage participation.
