The East Clinton freshman volleyball team lost matches this week to Cedarville and McClain.
On Tuesday, the Astros were defeated by the Indians. Coach Rhylee Luttrell said EC had “some solid plays throughout the night but a lot of points were not able to go our way.”
Marli Pirman, Lily Griffith and Masie Beener had one ace each. Maggie Huff had an assist and an ace. Ezzy Robinson finished with a kill.
On Monday, EC lost in three sets to the Tigers. After a slow start, the Astros came out ready for the second set and evened the match. Coach Luttrell said the team lost its drive in the third set. The team was short a player and “it messed with the girls dynamic as a team.”
Pirman had a block, an assist and four aces. Taylor Garringer had three kills and two aces. Maggie Huff finished with three kills, a block, two assists and an ace. Hannah Lovely had an assist and two aces. Rylie Pryor had an assist and two aces. Masie Beener contributed two aces.
