Blanchester girls win first-ever golf match over WHS, FHS

WILMINGTON — The Blanchester girls golf team won its first-ever match Tuesday over Wilmington and Fairfield here at the Elks 797 Golf Club.

Blanchester head coach Jamey Grogg said he conferred with athletic director Brad Ballinger and both believe this to be the first team win in girls golf history at Blanchester “since this is the first year we have fielded a full girls team.”

Blanchester has had girls on the golf team in the past, but not a full team.

“After starting out the season with two league matches, it was nice to play a match with a little less pressure that comes with league play,” Grogg said. “I was really pleased with our overall effort. The girls just keep working and are getting better each time they get out on the course, which was one of our goals for the season. Alivia (Brewster) continued her solid play and the other four girls each had their lowest rounds of the season.”

Brewster shared match medalist honors with Abi Earley of Wilmington as both girls came in with a 46.
