A Wilmington native has been recognized as a “top doctor” in a flaglerhealth.org publication. Dr. Rachel L. Kaplan is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and is one of the doctors at Flagler Health and OB/GYN Associates of St. Augustine, Fla.

According to the publication, Dr. Kaplan earned her medical degree from Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Botsford Hospital in the Detroit area. There, she enjoyed being chief resident and worked to cultivate a productive learning environment for her residents.

After her residency, Dr. Kaplan returned to her hometown of Wilmington, where she worked in a private practice for five years. She developed a passion and enthusiasm for all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology and loved serving her community, but after several cold winters, she and her family decided to move south.

Dr. Kaplan joined OB/GYN Associates of St. Augustine at Flagler Health in 2019.

In the publication, Dr. Kaplan is quoted as saying: “I want every patient that comes to our office to feel comfortable and well cared for during their visit. I love being able to help women through all stages of their life from contraception, abnormal bleeding, pregnancy to menopause, it is an honor to be able to provide quality care.”

When she’s not helping patients, Dr. Kaplan enjoys spending time with her husband and two small children, spending time at the beach, working in her garden, and exploring St. Augustine.
