WILMINGTON, OHIO — The upcoming 2024 Clinton County Corn Festival, organized by the Antique Power Club, will take place the weekend after Labor Day, Sept. 6, 7, and 8 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. The event will feature continuous entertainment for three full days with arts and crafts, antique displays, live entertainment on the sound stage area, games in the special event area, food, and much more.

The event is a three-day celebration for the entire Clinton County community to come together and enjoy a festival rooted in the pastoral past, present, and future of the varied communities of the county. With this year’s featured tractor being the Minneapolis Moline, the event was started in 1977 by the Antique Power Club as a way to celebrate the rural communities of Clinton County.

Starting on Friday, Sept. 6 with gates opening at 11 a.m. and going until Sunday, Sep. 8 at 5 p.m., the three-day event will feature something for everybody. An opening ceremony featuring the Wilmington High School Band, and a flag pole raising ceremony will start at 11:45 p.m. by the sound stage, followed by an evening’s worth of events, including Bingo, steam engine and sawmill demonstrations, an East Clinton FFA sponsored petting zoo, bluegrass music by Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass, an antique tractor pull, and the crowning of the festival King and Queen at 5:30 p.m.

Day two of the event will begin promptly with gates opening at 8 a.m., a parade downtown at 10 a.m., followed by an antique tractor pull and activities lined up until dusk. Day two features events all day, including tug-of-war, a pie-eating contest on the sound stage, bale-throwing contests, and the festival favorite Corn Olympics starting at 6 p.m. with sign-ups a half hour beforehand.

The third day of the event will begin with gates opening at 8 a.m. and a worship and prayer service from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and a wagon-backing contest at 10:30 a.m. followed by a third full day of entertainment, including a magic show featuring Professor Faris at 12:15 p.m., a concert by the Clinton County Community Band at 2:15 p.m., and much more, with the third day’s festivities ending at 5 p.m.

Ongoing events will be held for all three days of the events, such as quilt demonstrations throughout the weekend in the Quilt Barn, the 2024 theme being “Block Party.” Also, meet the Queen Bee on Saturday and Sunday at the Beehive behind the 4-H Building. As well, enjoy fresh honey at Wayne Wilkin’s Backyard Bees Honey Tasting which takes place every day by the CF Office. Also, Kiddie Train Rides will be available all weekend long.

Daily admission is $5 at the gate, weekend passes can be purchased for $10, and kids under the age of 12 are free. No bikes, skates, rollerblades, skateboards or four-wheelers are allowed on the premises. Any golf carts, UTVs, or other small personal vehicles must pay a $10 registration fee at the APC office and have valid proof of insurance for said vehicle. No pets are to be permitted in show areas.
