Bates win another thriller, Cats fall to Dogs 4-1

BATAVIA — Despite a 4-1 loss to Batavia, Blanchester tennis coach Matt Sexton was not totally displeased with his squad on a hot and humid day.

“Really pleased with how well our doubles played. I thought both teams did a lot of good things,” he said.

Lilly Bates had the lone BHS win, a thrilling, long-lasting 2-6, 7-6(5), 11-9 triumph at first singles.

“Lilly was out there for three hours and didn’t even play a full third set,” Sexton said. “This was after over two hours yesterday at Georgetown. The kid is just incredible. Her resilience is just on another level.”
