Broncos notch 3-0 win over Hurricane

MT. ORAB — Western Brown had Wilmington on the defensive Tuesday in a 23-25, 15-25, 14-25 WHS loss in SBAAC American Division volleyball action at WBHS.

The Hurricane stands 3-5 overall, 1-2 in league play. The Broncos are now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the American.

“Serving the first set continues to haunt us,” Wilmington coach Stephanie Reveal said. “In sets two and three, we played not to lose and that can’t happen. We also didn’t hit the ball well in sets two and three. We gave them too many free balls and we were always on defense and that hurts.

In the middle of three straight matches, WHS hosts Hillsboro tonight at Fred Summers Court. Team members will honor staff members that have been a positive influence for them.

Against the Broncos, WHS leaders were Aunestie Hudson and Lilly Trentman with five kills each. Aidynne Tippett led with 16 assists and three aces. Layla Reynolds had 16 digs and 20 passes.
