The Lane Heeg “Spirit in the Sky” Memorial Car, Semi & Motorcycle Show will be held Sept. 21 on Irvin Road in Blanchester.

This show is more than just an event. It’s community, family and friends coming together on one special day a year to honor and celebrate Lane Heeg’s memory. At only 20, he was taken from us too soon, according to a press release.

Lane was born on June 9, 1999 in Wilmington. He was a 2018 graduate of Blanchester High School, where he was a member of FFA and the basketball team. Not only was Lane a member of 4-H, he was a 4-H camp counselor and would often stop to talk to the kids from camp.

Lane had a passion for sports, cars and fishing. Some of his special moments were spending time on the farm with his grandpa. You could always find Lane spending time with his family and friends.

In just five years, the show has grown to 150-plus, vehicles, with dozens of volunteers gathering to help. The family is continuously blown away at the love and support from the community, as the event typically raises $15,000 to $20,000 to fund the Lane Heeg Memorial Scholarship. Applicants eligible to apply for the scholarship are Blanchester High School students, and all students of the Clinton County 4-H.

According to the press release, a member of the Car Show Committee said, “It’s definitely growing into quite the show, which we love. We just always want to make sure Lane’s memory and the purpose behind the show stays front and center.”

At the show, there’s a little something for everyone, a kids car show, live music, food trucks, vendors, split the pot, silent auctions, raffle baskets, face painting, a DJ and more.
