INDIAN HILL — Cincinnati Country Day scored with just 10 seconds remaining to stun Blanchester 29-27 Friday night.

The Wildcats, who trailed 17-7 at halftime and 23-13 in the third, took a 27-23 lead with Isaiah Abbott scored from one yard out with just 55 seconds remaining in the final quarter.

But the Nighthawks took possession following the score and found the end zone in just 45 seconds.

Brayden Behymer passed two yards to Caleb Sears for the first touchdown of the night as Blanchester went up 7-0. Elijah McVey added the extra point.

Following a big defensive stop by the Wildcats, thanks to a Zack Musselman tackle, CCD went on top 10-7 and eventually led 17-7 at the intermission.

Blanchester took nearly 10 minutes off the clock in the third and scored when Ayden Basham found paydirt from the one at the 2:15 mark of the third. The Wildcats were within 17-13.

After another CCD touchdown, BHS responded by Behymer scored from 13 yards out and Abbott added the two-point run, 23-21 with 50 seconds to go in the third.

The Wildcat defense held up its end of the bargain on two CCD drives but the offense had a turnover in the end zone.

The ball handlers had another chance, though, with just under six minutes to go and made good on a long drive to take the lead 27-23.
