WILMINGTON, OHIO — Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) has announced an opportunity for girls ages 8 to 18 to participate in a special Girls in Aviation Day event hosted at Wilmington Air Park on Saturday, Sept. 28.

This free, three-hour event is designed to inspire and educate the next generation of women in aviation. Pre-registration by Sept. 25 is required.

Participants will enjoy an immersive aviation career experience from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., including a tour of the aviation maintenance hangars and control tower, as well as the opportunity to operate a flight training simulator. The air park tour will be followed by lunch and a chance to engage in a hands-on aviation activity or a meet-and-greet mentoring session with women working in aviation roles throughout the ATSG network. The event will conclude around noon with each participant receiving an official ATSG Aviation Exploration Day patch.

To ensure their safety, attendees are required to wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and weather-appropriate outerwear. Where necessary, personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, will be provided.

Girls in Aviation Day is an annual event begun in 2015 by Women in Aviation International, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women involved in all aspects of aviation and aerospace.
