SABINA, OHIO — The Jason Beam Memorial Blood Drive will be held this Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the DeBold Farm, 2173 State Route 72.

Those interested can schedule a blood donation with Solvita (formerly Community Blood Center) on the Donor Time app, by calling (937) 461-3220, or at www.donortime.com.

Beam was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2022 and passed away April 11, 2024.

“He fought this disease with bravery and determination until the very end,” said Jason’s brother, Brad.

The Beam family hosted blood drives to support Jason during his treatment that included platelet and double red cells donations. The Sept. 7 blood drive will be in his memory.

“Jason wanted to make sure we were going to continue to do this,” said his father, Craig Beam. “He communicated that to us when he knew the outcome wouldn’t be good. He used over 200 units of platelets and red blood cells.”

Craig said the goal of the blood drive is to collect 100 donations, including platelet donations.

“We as a family recognize the dire need for blood donors, because of the number of units Jason consumed in his 22 month battle,” said Craig. “We know all blood products are in dire need. We want to do our part to help.”

Continuing through Sept. 28, everyone who registers to donate with Solvita will be entered in a new drawing to win two tickets to the Ohio State vs. Michigan game Nov. 30 in Columbus. Registered donors in September will also receive the Solvita one-year anniversary t-shirt.

Those interested can save time while helping save lives by using “DonorXPress” to complete the donor questionnaire before arriving at a blood drive. Find DonorXPress on the Donor Time App or at www.solvita.org/donorxpress.
