WILMINGTON, OHIO — A two-vehicle accident occurred today at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Rombach Avenue in front of Burger King.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the accident involved one westbound vehicle and one eastbound vehicle on Rombach Avenue. The eastbound vehicle reportedly made a left turn onto Carrie Drive in front of the westbound vehicle. The westbound vehicle swerved to avoid a collision, went off the road, and struck a utility pole and the traffic light control box at the Rombach/Carrie Drive intersection.

The impact caused power lines to fall into the roadway, leading to the temporary shutdown of Rombach Avenue. The driver of the vehicle that made the improper left turn was found at fault for the accident, according to police. The crash report is currently incomplete, and the names of the individuals involved have not yet been released.

The Wilmington Fire and Police departments promptly arrived at the scene to assist. According to police, one individual was transported from the scene with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The Wilmington Fire Department, when reached for comment, stated, “There was at least one vehicle involved which hit and snapped a pole, bringing down wires. One individual was transported by EMS with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.”

To manage traffic flow while the scene was being cleared, authorities directed vehicles through the parking lot on Rombach Avenue, from the China Buffet to Carrie Drive, located next to Arby’s. AES was on-site inspecting the downed telephone pole and electrical box to address any potential issues with the power lines.
