CINCINNATI — Wilmington was unable to hold a 10-point halftime lead Friday and lost to Mt. Healthy 19-13.

The Hurricane (1-2) led 10-0 at halftime but gave up two early scores and trailed 13-10 with 9:10 to play in the third.

The Owls added to the lead, 19-10, with a touchdown at the 8:47 mark of the fourth quarter.

Wilmington was able to convert a Dylan Groves field goal at 2:59 to get within one score, 19-13, and the defense came up with a stop.

But the offense was unable to convert and the WHS dropped its second straight game after a season-0pening win.

The Hurricane got on the board first with a safety by the defense midway through the opening period. Bryson Schutte had an interception early in the second quarter.

Wilmington put together a long drive on offense that culminated in a Jake Stephens to Zane Smith touchdown pass at 2:03. Stephens to Puller converted the two-point conversion and Wilmington led 10-0.

The defense came up with a stop and the half ended with WHS on top by 10.
