Blanchester wins doubleheader over Bethel-Tate

BLANCHESTER — In a rare tennis doubleheader, Blanchester picked up a pair of wins Tuesday over Bethel-Tate in SBAAC National Division tennis on the BHS courts.

Blanchester is 6-3 in the division and 6-6 overall. The short-handed Tigers are winless on the year.

“It was great to be able to pick up a pair of wins,” Sexton said. “Bethel is obviously limited by their numbers, but their kids competed hard in both matches. Hopefully they’ll be able to fill out their roster next year.”

One of the highlights of the day was the first career varsity singles win for Ryan Maines.

“She was a JV player last year and was one of the few that really put in the hard miles this offseason to get where she is this year,” said Sexton. “She’s a tremendous kid and has worked very hard. I’m happy for her that she was able to get that win today.”
