WILMINGTON, Ohio — During a meeting held on Monday morning, the Clinton County Commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing Child Passenger Safety Week, set to take place from Sept. 15-21. The proclamation emphasizes the critical importance of correctly securing children in car seats, booster seats, and seat belts to prevent injury or death in the event of a motor vehicle accident.

The resolution reads, in part: “Whereas, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children, and proper use of car seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers.”

The Commissioners further highlighted the role of certified child passenger safety technicians at the Clinton County Health District in assisting parents and caregivers by ensuring car seats are installed correctly. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to reduce risks for the youngest and most vulnerable passengers.

Additionally, the proclamation encourages Clinton County residents to take part in Child Passenger Safety Week by having their car seats checked by certified child passenger safety technicians at the Clinton County Health District to ensure correct installation.
