G-Men still unbeaten but Bates impressive for Wildcats

BLANCHESTER — Georgetown remained unbeaten Monday with a 4-1 win over Blanchester in SBAAC National Division tennis on the BHS courts.

Lilly Bates came up with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 victory at first singles for the Wildcats. According to the SBAAC website, the loss was the first of the season for Georgetown’s Lillian Gray.

“Couldn’t be more proud of Lilly,” Blanchester head coach Matt Sexton said. “She followed up a great win over Western Brown last week with her best win of the season, especially after Gray won that second set so easily. Lilly got refocused and raced out to a 5-1 lead in the third.”

The Wildcats are 6-4 in the National and 6-8 overall. Georgetown is unbeaten at 12-0 in all matches and 10-0 against National Division rivals. The division will hold its post-season tournament 9 a.m. Wednesday at the WHS tennis complex.
