East Clinton Volley For The Cure a success

LEES CREEK — Claudia Martinez was honored Thursday at East Clinton’s annual Volley For The Cure match against Whiteoak.

“We honored New Vienna teacher Claudia Martinez who is currently undergoing treatment for colon cancer,” East Clinton volleyball coach Sarah Sodini said. “Through shirt sales, a silent auction, EC Athletic Booster donation, a 50/50 raffle, and a bake sale, we raised over $4,500 to give to Mrs. Martinez.”

East Clinton won the match 25-16, 25-14, 25-20.

“We want to thank Shyanne Pryor and the other EC parents who worked very hard to make this event a success,” said Sodini. “We also want to thank the EC Athletic Boosters for sponsoring this event and the athletic department for working with us to make this an awesome event. We are super grateful to the EC community for their support for this event over the years.”

Sodini said all five teams from the high school and middle school played Thursday, joining forces to help raise money for Martinez.

EC stat leaders were Karsyn Jamison with six kills, Emily Arnold with 14 assists and eight service aces, Kaylee Terrell with 10 digs and 28 passes. Taylor Barton also had 28 passes.
