Astro boys 4th at Fairfield Invitional cross country meet

LEESBURG — The East Clinton cross country teams competed Saturday in the Fairfield Invitational in Highland County.

The course feature some rolling hills with a track finish in front of the grandstands, EC coach Josh Simmons said.

The East Clinton boys were fourth overall with Jackson Seabaugh finishing sixth in 19:20.38. Landen Kaun was eighth in 19:40.87 and Dru Simmons rounded out the top 10 in 20:27.03. All three earned a medal.

Kaiden Roth was 15th in a personal best time of 21:19.3 and was followed by Jacob George 23rd in 22:23.13, Colton Brockman 25th in 22:32.9, Ben Gates 29th in 25:22.53, Eoin Hackmann 32nd in 30:24.93 and Wyatt Oberschlake 33rd in 36:39.84. Luke Thompson started the race but did not finish to prevent injury, Simmons said.

On the girls side it was Carman Brown placing ninth in 27:51.89.

“The high school runners looked good and should roll into next week ready for some league runners,” said the EC coach.

A mixup in the course left the middle school runners going longer than expected, Simmons said.

The middle school girls ran first with Ally George placing 13th and Autumn Joseph finishing 17th. “They both did great given the longer run,” said Simmons.

Carter Kaun was 28th for the ECMS boys and was followed by Jaxson Manning 30th and Owen Smith 39th. “The boys looked strong and ran hard,” the coach said.
