Astros cage Cats, remain on top of SBAAC National standings

BLANCHESTER — East Clinton won its fourth straight match Tuesday, a 25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-23 triumph over Blanchester at the BHS gym.

The SBAAC National Division victory keeps the Astros unbeaten in league play at 8-0 and a game ahead of second place Williamsburg.

East Clinton (13-3 overall) has won 11 of its last 12 matches and plays at Williamsburg on Oct. 10 in the final National Division match of the year for the two teams.

Leaders for East Clinton were Karsyn Jamison with 12 kills and Makayla Seaman with 10; Emily Arnold with 21 assists and five aces; Taylor Barton and Sahara Tate with 13 digs; and Tate with 36 passes and Barton with 33.

“We were having a tough time serving and serve receiving, but the girls stuck with it and battled through to get the win,” East Clinton coach Sarah Sodini said. “I’m proud of how far they’ve come with their teamwork.”
