Red-hot Cane wins 4th straight, sets up key matchup with Goshen Tuesday

WILMINGTON — Ben Angelica’s hat trick led Wilmington to a 6-1 win over Western Brown Tuesday in SBAAC American Division boys soccer at Alumni Field.

The red-hot Hurricane has won four straight and nine of their last 10 matches. After an 0-2 start to league play, Wilmington has won six straight.

WHS and Goshen are tied for first in the American at 6-2. They are scheduled to meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at Goshen.

Angelica, who has scored eight goals in his last four matches, was a wrecking ball in the offensive third, converting seven shots into three goals.

Aven Patel had a goal and three assists. Hjalmar Sims and Jason Tecu also scored for the Hurricane. Bryce Vilvens, who is tied with Angelica with 14 goals on the year, had two assists. Vilvens has scored or assisted on a goal in 10 straight matches.

Scotty Hall had seven saves in goal for Wilmington while Spencer Wood made one save.
