Blanchester wins 5-set thriller over Williamburg

BLANCHESTER — With strong play at the net, Blanchester stunned Williamsburg with a big rally 19-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-12, 15-11 Tuesday in SBAAC National Division volleyball.

Blanchester had 38 kills on the night and recording only four hitting errors. BHS also had 17 service aces.

The BHS Wildcats have won two straight matches, both five-setters, after losing seven straight. In 17 matches this season, Blanchester has played only five three-set matches. Five of the last six matches have been five-set battles.

Blanchester is 7-10 overall and 6-4 in the league, third behind champion East Clinton and Williamsburg.

WHS is 7-2 in league play and can only play for a share of the title as the Astros are 10-0.

Emma Hartmann had 16 kills while Bailie Bare finished with 12. Jade Jackson handed out 23 assists while Jocelyn Lansing kept the ball alive on offense with 62 passes on the night.
